ABOUT AMY DRYER

Artist
I paint to tell stories. Working in the language of German Expressionism — bold colour, gestural brushwork, and the charged space between representation and abstraction — I aim to reveal the experience of emergent moments rather than a subject’s literal likeness. Each canvas is a fragment of a place, a person, or a feeling; together they form the larger whole of a life lived attentively. From my downtown Calgary studio, I paint daily, drawing on influences gathered through my time in Glasgow, Sackville, Berlin, and Reykjavík, and on the belief that art carries memory, builds connection, and offers hope.
